I call this photograph, "Angelina's Last Stand." In a time when AI is racing into all parts of our lives, there remains the possibility of capturing of a moment of time and celebrating it as the camera saw it alone, sans embellishment. It was more common when we shot with film but a rare achievement today in the digital world. This is an unedited portrait of beautiful Angelina from Movement Arts Collective in Seaford, NY. I leveled it and brought down the noise. That's it. As she improvised for the camera (something in which MAC dancers are uniquely gifted), I knew my key lights were not recycling fast enough at full power and my back light would fill resulting in this kind of image. That was the extent of my efforts, however. The rest of this compelling image belongs to Angelina who provided me with one poignant and revealing moment after another. Feeding my lens with a river of visual opportunities, each constructed artfully and with great intention. Here is one of the results. I am very fortunate to work with dancers like Angelina whose talent is only surpassed by her focus, drive and spirit. She's a great kid brimming over with promise. I don't know what AI will bring us in the future. I can only tell you that Angelina and her work are beautiful unadorned and in any light. Angelina studies under the direction of Kristie Tavormina.
